| Ferry:
Cheap ferry deals can be picked up by visiting www.ferryprice.com. Dover
to Calais is the shortest crossing, and it is (relatively) easy to get
from Calais to Paris by car, and south from there.
Car Hire: please follow the link for more information. As it is not possible to offer directions for routes from an inexhaustible list of destinations, we would suggest that if you want help in planning the best route, you have a look at the fantastic AA route planner, or contact us directly for advice. Euro tunnel: You can take your car cross the channel in just 35 minutes using Euro tunnel. See www.eurotunnel.com for details. Directions From the North/West (from Toulouse): Leaving Toulouse airport, initially follow signs to Montpelier - just to get you onto the Toulouse ringroad. You have an option to go via the peage or the standard route: Via the Peage (costs approx 4E each way for a car and saves approx 15mins): Follow signs to Foix - these will initially be green but then there will be the option to follow blue sign road signs to Foix and Tarbes. These will take you onto the E9 to Foix/Andorre (the road separates first from the non peage route to Foix, and then from the Tarbes road as well, just outside Toulouse). Following signs to Foix/ Andorre, stay on the motorway till it joins the local dual carriageway (RN20) at a place called Pamiers. Continue on this dual carriageway to the town of Foix, passing through the Foix tunnel, where you start entering the foothills of the Pyrenees. The dual carriageway ends at a roundabout on the outskirts of Tarascon sur Ariege. Take the 3rd exit (L turn) which takes you towards Tarascon. Turn R at the next roundabout and then straight on at the next 2 so that you bypass Tarascon and follow signs to Andorre and Ax les Thermes. Continue on this road and in about 10 minutes, after the village of Sinsat, look for the R turn off the road towards Les Cabannes (signposted). Go into the village of Les Cabannes, and past the shops (L and R), and village square (on your R). After the pizza restaurant on your left (Le Trevi), take the next R up a little road that is signposted for Pech. Follow the hill up, round the hairpin, then straight on (bears Left) at the next junction. Follow the road round, and take the first L up a sharp hill which will lead you into Quartier Serene. Turn L in the Quartier and follow the road around. Cherry cottage is second in the row of houses on the right. Avoiding the Peage: Continue on the dual carriageway (dir Andorre) to the town of Foix, passing through the Foix tunnel, where you start entering the foothills of the Pyrenees. Cherry cottage is second in the row of houses on your right. From the South/East (Andorra/Spain): Enter Ax-les-Thermes on the N20 direction Foix. In the centre of Ax there is a roundabout. Take the 2nd exit to drive down the main street in Ax. Continue on this road out of Ax, driving for about 15/20 minutes through the towns and villages of Savignac, Luzenac, La Remise and Albies. Soon after Albies, look for a left hand turn, signposted Les Cabannes. Turn Left and drive into Les Cabannes. Soon after the pharmacy and church (both on your L), take the small turning R, signposted up to the village of Pech. If you get into the village square of Les Cabannes, you have gone too far. Follow the Pech road uphill, round the
hairpin, then straight on (bears Left) at the next junction. Follow
the road round, and take the first L up a sharp hill which will lead
you into Quartier Serene. Turn L in the Quartier and follow the
road around. Cherry cottage is second in the row of houses on
your right. |
