We have renovated Cherry Cottage with children in mind, and would like you to feel happy to bring your family here.  

We therefore have the following equipment for children in the house:

Wooden cot, mattress and sheets
Highchair
Sterilising kit for bottles
Changing mat 
Step for children to reach sink
Non slip mat in the shower
Potty
Night lights on each floor
2 stairgates

We will only have this equipment in the cottage if you let us know you will be needing it (to save on any cluttering!), so please fill in the appropriate section on the booking form.

Health and Safety: We have adapted the cottage environment as much as possible to make it suitable for young children, however supervision of children in the house will obviously be required at all times.

Wood burning stove (living room): the top of this gets very hot, as does the chimney. 
Upstairs windows (bedrooms): we have a bar across the 2 low windows
Staircases (to first and second floors): we have banisters in place for use by children and adults.

Please note that there is currently not a complete fence around the garden (leads into fields) so children will need supervising here.

The area is extremely quiet with very little traffic to the village, and especially to our Quartier.

Child specific Activities (more information available at the cottage):

Swimming: local open air pool in Les Cabannes (open July and August), open air pool in Aston (5 minutes drive or 15 min walk) with baby pool, slide (children above a certain height only) and sunbathing area with a mix of shade and sun.  Pool side cafe selling snacks/ice creams/drinks.  There is also a leisure centre at Tarascon  with an indoor pool -check timetable re opening times etc (15 mins drive from Cottage)

Crazy golf: local course in Les Cabannes

Fishing: Trout fishing lake in Les Cabannes

Waterploof!: Canoeing/Rafting from Les Cabannes, open all year

Small playground: in the VVF holiday site in Les Cabannes - open all day.  Centrally situated playground in the centre of Foix. 

Ariege Aventure: Adventure games through woods/canyon, via ferrata etc.  All situated in the valley of Orlu (20-30mins drive)

Seaside: Mediterranean is 2 and a half hours drive away

Parc de la Prehistoire, Tarascon (20 mins drive): exhibitions, history of prehistoric man and the local caves

Lakes/Water parks: Labarre (Foix-30mins drive) July and August- has pedalos, picnic area, childrens area etc. Mercus (20mins drive) open mid June to end Aug - pedalos, waterskiing, waterskiing, picnics etc.

Bamboo Garden: near Pamiers (40 mins drive).  Tranquil gardens including sensory garden.

Wolf Park: Orlu valley (30 mins drive) -see sightseeing page

Lamas of Ariege @ Cazenave (1 hr drive): walking with lama's, family activities etc. Open april to june and september/october. 

Les Aigles du Chateau de Lordat: Bird of Prey demonstration from April to Nov (30 mins drive) - see sightseeing page
